*ACTIVE SCAM ALERT* UMTPD warning about scam calls from individual claiming to be UMTPD officer (see message) 
The Upper Macungie Township Police Department (UMTPD) is warning residents about an active scam involving individuals claiming to be UMTPD officers and demanding money.
The scam involves a subject calling residents from a "spoofed" number that is identified on caller ID as "Upper Macungie Township Police" and "484-661-5911."
During the scam phone call, the caller advises the potential victim that there is an active warrant for their arrest and that they need to pay a fee to resolve the issue.
Police will never call you and demand money, even if there is an active warrant for your arrest. If you receive this call, please disconnect immediately and contact our officers by calling the non-emergency number (610-437-5252).
We have received several calls today regarding this scam, which is why we are issuing this urgent alert to inform our residents. Please share this information with friends, neighbors, and especially our elderly residents.
