Flood Warning until 10:00AM Monday

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...A portion of southern Illinois, including the following counties, Franklin, Jefferson, Johnson, Perry, Pulaski, Union, Wayne and Williamson.

* WHEN...Until 1000 AM CDT Monday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 613 PM CDT, Even though the heavy rain has ended, substantial flooding continues across much of the warned area. Between 5 and 9 inches of rain have fallen since the start of the event on Wednesday. Only light drizzle is anticipated through this evening. - Flooding impacts will continue, with only minimal additional rainfall expected. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Marion, Mount Vernon, Herrin, West Frankfort, Benton, Du Quoin, Pinckneyville, Carterville, Fairfield, Anna, Johnston City, Christopher, Jonesboro, Vienna, Rend Lake Area, Sesser, Zeigler, Crainville, Cambria and Cobden. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
