Road Rage Incident & Weapons Charges

UPDATE (4/9/2025) - The suspect without a hat or hood has been identified as Kerolos Y. Mosaad and placed under arrest.

Chief Mark Tinitigan wishes to announce an ongoing investigation which has already led to criminal charges on one (1) suspect and the recovery of an illegal firearm with a loaded high-capacity magazine. However, there are still three (3) unidentified suspects that he is enlisting the help of the public for any information on.

On Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at approximately 5:27 PM, Detectives on patrol in an unmarked vehicle noticed a disturbance on Ferry Street. Shortly thereafter, it became apparent that they caught the conclusion of a road rage incident involving numerous individuals with weapons. Prompt follow up investigation revealed the positive identification of one (1) of the suspects and that suspect’s vehicle. Ultimately, the investigation led to a search warrant for that vehicle which yielded a handgun with a loaded high-capacity magazine.

That suspect was identified as 21 year-old East Brunswick resident, Donovan Cimaglia. He was subsequently charged with Aggravated Assault, Riot, Criminal Mischief, Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purposes, Manufacture/Transport/Disposition/& Defacement of Weapons and Dangerous Instruments and Appliances and Prohibited Weapons and Devices. Cimaglia has a warrant for his arrest on those listed charges.

The investigation is continuing and ongoing. There are still three (3) unidentified suspects that the South River Police Department is asking for assistance from the public in identifying. Included are images of the suspects and a vehicle the suspects appeared to be utilizing during this incident.

If anyone has any information on Cimaglia, the other suspects, or any other information that can benefit this investigation, they are urged to contact Detective Patrick Molina at 732-254-9002 x 113 or a/Sgt. Kenneth Nale at 732-254-9002 x 123.

Chief Tinitigan praises his detectives for the rapid response and their swift and thorough investigation that took a dangerous weapon off the street. He hopes the public can aid this investigation by helping to identify the other actors that took part in this senseless act. He wishes to assure the public that the South River Police Department will remain actively visible with a proactive uniform presence within the Borough while also deploying unmarked police vehicles and officers to inconspicuously address public safety concerns.

As is the case with all criminal defendants, the charges against Donovan Cimaglia and the accusations regarding the other three (3) suspects are merely accusations and all involved parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
