HOLLISTER, CALIFORNIA May 7, 2025– On April 25, 2025, just before midnight, officers from the Hollister Police Department responded to a reported stabbing in the 200 block of Elm Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 31-year-old male victim who had sustained multiple stab wounds.
During the investigation into the stabbing, detectives identified two suspects as the perpetrators of this heinous crime: Suspect (S1) Jose Astorga and Suspect (S2) Eddie DeGracia. Within 14 hours, Astorga was located and taken into custody, while DeGracia remained on the run. Detectives continued to pursue leads to track him down.
Although DeGracia’s whereabouts were initially unknown, investigators worked diligently to develop leads and locate him. The Detective Bureau dedicated extensive hours to solving this case and pursuing justice for the victim, a Hollister resident.
A press release was issued to the community seeking assistance in locating DeGracia. Thanks to the detective bureau’s firm dedication, the case remained a priority until the community was safe with DeGracia in custody.
On the night of May 5, 2025, DeGracia voluntarily surrendered to authorities without incident. He was arrested and booked into the San Benito County Jail on the following charges:
• 664/187(a) PC – Attempted Murder
• 3056 PC – Parole Violation
