Free Storm Debris Removal Program Extended to Thursday, May 15th, 2025
Thanks to the efforts of McDowell Emergency Management, McDowell County residents have been granted an extension to the Private Property Debris Program. Eligible residents may qualify to have disaster debris removed from their property at no cost.  The new deadline is Thursday, May 15th, giving residents just four more days to apply. If you still need to enroll, please come in person to complete your application at McDowell County Emergency Services, 129 Barnes Rd., Marion, NC 28752 from 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday 5/12 through Thursday 5/15.

NC Launches the State Private Road and Bridge Repair Program
Governor Stein has announced the launch of the State Private Road and Bridge Repair Program website. As part of Executive Order #2, this program is designed to assist property owners in Western North Carolina who have sustained damage to private roads or bridges. State officials are working to secure additional funding and expedite services. McDowell County residents with eligible damages are encouraged to submit their interest in participating by visiting www.ncdps.gov/helene/prb

Disaster Resource Center at 129 Barnes Rd., Marion, NC has Permanently Closed
The Disaster Resource Center at Emergency Services Headquarters (129 Barnes Rd, Marion, NC 28752) permanently closed on Wednesday, April 30 at 5:00 p.m. Residents who still need assistance are encouraged to contact NC Disaster Case Management at 844-746-2326, FEMA at 800-621-3362, or the Small Business Administration at 571-686-5772.
