Heat Warning
South Whitehall Township and the general area is in for a dangerously hot stretch this week, with heat index values soaring to 109°F on Monday and staying well over 100°F through midweek. This extreme heat can quickly lead to heat-related illnesses, especially for young children, the elderly, pets, and anyone without access to air conditioning.
Now is the time to take extra precautions. Drink plenty of water, stay inside in air-conditioned spaces whenever possible, and avoid strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day.
Don’t forget to check on neighbors and relatives who may be more vulnerable, and make sure pets are brought indoors with fresh water available at all times. Temperatures begin to ease by Friday, but the early part of the week will be intense. Stay safe and take care of each other.
