What Does Stigma Mean to Me?

Have you ever felt judged, left out, or treated unfairly because of what you’ve been through or who you are? The mission of the Franklin Township Stigma-Free Council is to create a community of understanding by helping to eradicate mental health and substance use disorder stigma. Lend your voice in the fight against discrimination, isolation, ridicule and fear.

The Franklin Township Stigma-Free Council is creating a video series called “What Does Stigma Mean to Me?” and we want to hear from you. We’re asking Franklin residents to share honest, personal reflections about what stigma means to them and/or how it’s shown up in their lives. Whether you’ve seen stigma, felt it, or just want to help others understand it better, this is your chance to speak up.

How Can You Participate?

Submit a Short Video about your thoughts on mental health and substance use disorder stigma. You can either:

Record a simple video answering one or each of the following questions:

• What does stigma mean to you?
• How has stigma impacted your life or the lives of those around you?
• What’s one way you can help reduce stigma in Franklin?
• How has stigma affected your mental health or substance use journey?
• What would you say to someone who wonders why Franklin Township has a Stigma-Free Council?
• Why do you think this initiative matters?
• What do you hope will come out of this effort?

Share Anonymously—If you're not comfortable being on camera, no problem. Write down your reflection and email it to us. Your story will be shared, but your identity will stay private.

• Anyone who wants to help reduce stigma in Franklin

Where Will Your Story Be Shared?

Selected clips will be aired on FTTV and featured on Franklin Township’s

web, print, and social media platforms to spark conversation and connection across the community.
