.FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 945 PM EDT THIS EVENING FOR NORTHEASTERN MIDDLESEX, SOUTHEASTERN MORRIS AND EASTERN SOMERSET COUNTIES... At 630 PM EDT, local law enforcement reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain in Woodbridge Township. Between 3 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Law enforcement reported flooding on area roads. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses. Some locations that may experience flash flooding include... New Brunswick, Morristown, Somerville, Somerset, Edison, East Brunswick, North Brunswick, Carteret, Madison, Middlesex, Florham Park and Bound Brook. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around...don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Move to higher ground now. Act quickly to protect your life. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
