A Heat Advisory is in effect today through Wednesday as heat index values of up to 104 degrees are expected. Cooling Centers will be open today, Monday, July 28 to Wednesday, July 30 at the North Brunswick Senior Center, 15 Linwood Place and North Brunswick Public Library, 880 Hermann Road.
 
The cooling center hours at the Senior Center are:
 
North Brunswick Senior Center
15 Linwood Place
Monday-Wednesday 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
 
The cooling center hours at the North Brunswick Library are:
 
North Brunswick Public Library
880 Hermann Road
Monday-Wednesday 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
 
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
 
Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
 
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
