Fairfield Police Detectives Investigating Suspected Homicide 
On Friday, August 8, just after 8:30 pm, a 19-year-old man was seated in a car in the parking lot of a business in the 1300 block of West Texas Street, when someone approached the vehicle and fired several shots.
Officers responded to the scene and provided lifesaving measures before the victim was transported to a local hospital. Unfortunately, he subsequently succumbed to his injuries.
The suspect fled prior to officers’ arrival.
Detectives responded and took over the investigation. Although the investigation is ongoing, preliminary evidence strongly suggests this was not a random act. There is no perceived threat to the public at this time.
