Man, dog killed as fire destroys homes on Fripp Island; investigation underway 
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fire that destroyed multiple homes on Fripp Island on Saturday morning.
At approximately 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025, the Beaufort County Communications Center received reports of several homes on fire on Bonito Road.
During the response, a 59-year-old man and a dog were found deceased inside one of the homes. The Beaufort County Coroner’s Office will release the man’s identity and official cause of death following notification of next of kin.
Multiple fire agencies, along with Beaufort County EMS, responded to the scene. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) was requested to assist with the investigation into the cause of the fire.
The investigation remains active, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
