Advisory

Micro Surfacing at Various location Starting 8/21/25 through 8/27/2025

Indus Inc., the contractor for the City of Manchester’s Department of Public Works (DPW), will be performing micro surfacing at various locations throughout the city beginning August 21, 2025, through August 27, 2025.

What is Micro-Surfacing?
Micro-surfacing is a roadway maintenance treatment that applies a thin layer of asphalt emulsion mixed with aggregate to extend the life of the pavement. This process creates a new asphalt layer approximately 3/8 inch thick, improving durability, skid resistance, and overall ride quality. Cure times will vary depending on weather, generally ranging from 30 to 90 minutes, and streets will remain closed until the surface has cured.

Weather Permitting The work is expected to take five days to complete, following the schedule below:

  • Day 1 (Thursday 21st ): Ashmere Drive, Garden Walk Drive, Morning Glory Drive, Primrose Drive, Rosecliff Lane, Stonington Drive, Wild Indigo Lane

  • Day 2 ( Friday 22nd ): Ashmere Drive, Garden Walk Drive, Morning Glory Drive, Primrose Drive, Rosecliff Lane, Stonington Drive, Wild Indigo Lane (second lift)

  • Day 3 ( Monday 25th )  : Comeau Street, Demers Street, Dove Lane, Elmhurst Avenue, Healion Street, Hulme Street, Karine Street, Morin Street, Stanton Street, Sugar Hill Lane, Whitford Street

  • Day 4 (Tuesday 26th): Dove Lane, Elmhurst Avenue, Helion Street, Karine Lane, Precourt Street, Stanton Street, Sugar Hill Lane, Varney Street

  • Day 5 (Wednesday 27th): Comeau Street, Demers Street, Morin Street, Precourt Street, Varney Street, Whitford Street

During construction, most streets will be fully closed while both lanes are treated simultaneously. On Varney Street, alternating one-way traffic will be maintained.

Residents are reminded that while temporary closures will be in place, emergency vehicles will always have access to all streets at all times.

We kindly ask residents to plan their activities accordingly and avoid construction areas whenever possible. While every effort will be made to minimize disruptions, some delays and temporary restrictions on access should be expected.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to improve our community’s infrastructure.

Sincerely,
City of Manchester – DPW Highway Division
