Sonora Police Department Community Notice 
This evening, you may have heard a loud boom toward the south end of town. The Sonora Police Department, in coordination with the Midland Police Department’s Explosive Ordnance Division (EOD), safely discharged a device to render it safe.
We want to assure our community that everything is okay, and there is no cause for alarm.
The area near the old landfill, where the operation took place, will remain closed until approximately 7:30 PM and will reopen for normal operations afterward.
