Important High Tide & Surf Information – City of Seal Beach

Dear Seal Beach Residents,

We want to provide you with an update on expected high tides and ocean conditions this week.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) forecasts elevated surf and “King Tide” conditions from Wednesday, November 5 through Friday, November 7. Expected conditions include:

  • Swell direction: West-northwest (250°)

  • Wave height: 4–6 feet locally (with occasional higher sets on west-facing beaches)

  • High tides:

    • Wednesday, Nov. 5: 6.9 ft at 8:03 AM

    • Thursday, Nov. 6: 7.1 ft at 8:41 AM

    • Friday, Nov. 7: 7.0 ft at 9:23 AM

While NOAA has not issued a coastal flood advisory for Orange County at this time, the City of Seal Beach is taking proactive steps to prepare for potential flooding in beachfront areas.

City Preparedness Measures

  • Winter sand berm construction begins Wednesday, November 5 (1st Street mini-berm already in place)

  • Sandbag stations are stocked and available at:

    • 8th Street Beach Lot

    • OCFA Fire Station #44 (Central & 8th)

  • Police and Marine Safety teams are monitoring conditions and coordinating with OCFA

We encourage residents in beachfront areas to plan for possible minor flooding and to avoid low-lying coastal pathways during peak tides.

Thank you for your cooperation as we work to ensure community safety during these seasonal high-tide events. Stay safe, Seal Beach!
