HEAVY RAIN EXPECTED THIS WEEKEND – CITY OF SEAL BEACH UPDATE

The National Weather Service is forecasting heavy rain and the potential for localized flooding this weekend. The City of Seal Beach is actively monitoring the storm and preparing resources in advance. The Seal Beach Police Department, Marine Safety Department, Public Works Department, and Orange County Fire Authority will be responding as conditions change.

We encourage all residents to take precautions now and stay alert throughout the storm.

What Residents Should Do:

  • Have sandbags ready at your home if you live in an area that has flooded before or is prone to pooling water.

  • On the night before your trash pickup, place trash cans 12 inches away from the curb to keep gutters clear. Do not park vehicles in front of trash cans.

  • If possible, park vehicles in your driveway instead of on the street—engine facing the garage door is safest. This is especially important in neighborhoods such as College Park East and Old Town.

  • Avoid driving through flooded streets. Even slow speeds create wakes that can push water onto parked vehicles or into garages.

  • Keep children and pets away from floodwater, which can contain debris or harmful bacteria.

  • Report fallen trees or large branches by calling the Seal Beach Police Department non-emergency line at (562) 594-7232.

  • Monitor the Seal Beach City and Police Department’s social media outlets for real-time safety updates.

Sandbag Locations:
Complimentary sand and empty sandbags are available at:

  • Eighth Street Beach Parking Lot – 800 Ocean Ave

  • Fire Station 44 – 8th St & Central Ave *

  • Fire Station 48 – 3131 Northgate Rd (near the 405 Fwy) *

  • Arbor Park – 4665 Lampson Ave

*Maintained by the Orange County Fire Authority
