Road Closures Scheduled Between Lehigh Valley and Quakertown Interchange
Early morning closure planned to minimize traffic impacts
MIDDLETOWN, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Turnpike (PA Turnpike) advises motorists traveling on the Northeast Extension (Interstate 476) in Lehigh and Bucks County of planned detours between the Lehigh Valley (Exit 56) and Quakertown (Exit 44) Interchanges.
The Northeast Extension is scheduled to close in both directions from 12 a.m. until 6 a.m. on Sunday, December 7. The closures are necessary for the removal of existing bridge girders, which will support the total reconstruction project from Milepost A53 to A57. The PA Turnpike’s Total Reconstruction initiative transforms America’s first superhighway to provide a safer and more efficient travel experience for PA Turnpike customers. This system-wide initiative expands the PA Turnpike, improves capacity and major corridor access.
