Fairfield Police Arrest Man Wanted Following Fatal December 7 Shooting 
This afternoon at approximately 1:07 pm, Fairfield Police Dispatch received a report that a shooting had occurred in the 2000 block of Cambridge Drive. Upon arriving at the scene, officers located one male victim, 40, suffering from a gunshot wound.
The suspect, who was known to the victim, fled before officers arrived.
Officers and personnel from Fairfield Fire Department provided medical aid to the victim but unfortunately, he succumbed to the wound.
A short time later, Fairfield Fire personnel spotted the suspect nearby. They quickly relayed this information to officers who responded and took the 21-year-old Fairfield resident into custody.
The Investigations Division responded to the scene and has taken over the investigation. In order to preserve the integrity of the investigation, and pending notification of next-of-kin, no additional details will be shared at this time.
The Fairfield Police Department extends its appreciation to the Fairfield Fire Department and the crew of Engine 37 for their crucial assistance, which helped ensure justice will be swiftly dealt in this case.
