On 1-13-26, law enforcement officers encountered Thomas Mark Sharp Jr in Burlington NC. Sharp was found deceased with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. There is no longer any threat to the public in this matter. I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to all of the law enforcement agencies across the region who assisted with our search. To my knowledge, no law enforcement officials were injured in the search for Sharp.
CASE RESOLVED-Thomas Mark Sharp Jr.
Details: A Warrant for Arrest has been issued for Thomas Mark Sharp Jr. for Attempted 1st Degree Murder
and Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury. On January 12, 2026 at 11:52am the Stokes County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call of a reported shooting at 1055 Poplar Springs Road in Madison NC. Sharp was not located at the scene and may be driving a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado truck NC Registration
Plate VAN-2265. Sharp may be armed with long gun.
