DPW snow removal and emergency tree crews on standby 1/24-1/26. Possible Snow Emergency 1/27.
In anticipation of this weekend’s winter weather, including high winds and a significant amount of snow from Sunday afternoon (January 25) through Monday night (January 26), Manchester DPW will have snow removal and emergency tree crews on standby for the entire weekend.
Roadways will be addressed first during the active snow event. During a winter storm, our crews focus on keeping all roads in a passable condition to ensure safe travel for residents and emergency services. Once the storm has fully ended, we return to each area to push snow back to the curb line and complete the final cleanup. Please abide by posted Winter Parking Restrictions to help ensure DPW crews can thoroughly clear snow from the streets.
One downtown sidewalk tractor will operate throughout the duration of the storm. Prior to the opening of schools, DPW will plow all school sidewalk routes. When all snow has been removed from roadways and pushed back, we will begin plowing the remaining sidewalks. Depending on the size and duration of the storm, this may take several days after the storm to complete. These routes are addressed promptly once the storm has ended, and sidewalk operations will continue around the clock until all assigned areas have been fully cleared. Thank you for your patience as our crews work to complete this effort.
A Snow Emergency is likely to be declared the night after snowfall has stopped, in order to facilitate snow cleanup and increase safety for the traveling public. Specific parking lots are opened up throughout the City to provide free parking for residents during that time.
