State of Emergency declared, Winter Storm Warning for 7 to 13 inches of snow, along with sleet/freezing rain
Governor Mikie Sherrill declared that New Jersey will enter a State of Emergency effective at 5 p.m. today.
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for tonight through Monday afternoon for 7 to 13 inches of snow, along with sleet and freezing rain.
The most important message for residents for the winter storm is to stay off the roads. Be safe and stay home.
As a reminder, the Office of Emergency Management and the Department of Public Works would like to advise residents of a few items in preparation for the storm.
REMOVE PARKED VEHICLES FROM ROADWAYS
Residents MUST remove vehicles parked on the street by Saturday evening to ensure effective plowing operations from our Department of Public Works crews.
Under the Township ordinance, vehicles must be removed from roadways from the first hour of commencement of snow to 12 hours after the snow has stopped for snowfall over 4 inches or more. Please pass this information on to your neighbors.
Available parking locations when four inches of snow is predicted are:
•Senior Center-Linwood Place
•Babbage Park-Glenridge Avenue
•Public Library-Hermann Road
•Parking lot across from the Municipal Building
•Veterans Park-Roosevelt Avenue
•Community Park-Rt. 130
•Sabella Park-Cozzens Lane
•JFK Park-Schmidt Lane
For the duration of this storm, parking on your front lawn is acceptable.

SHOVELING
Please make sure to shovel your sidewalks following the storm to ensure safety for pedestrians. Sidewalks must be shoveled within 24 hours after the snowfall has ended.
Please do NOT throw snow into the street when clearing your property. The Township code prohibits casting snow onto Township roadways.
If you live near a fire hydrant, please help the Fire Department and your neighbors, by shoveling around the hydrant. This could be a life saving measure!
North Brunswick Township is seeking residents, 16 years old and older (including students), to volunteer in assisting disabled senior citizens following the upcoming winter storm on Sunday with snow shoveling.
Please be advised that this is for seniors with emergency needs ONLY for snow shoveling. Residents are advised to check on their senior neighbors to see if they need any assistance.
Volunteers should contact Director of Parks, Recreation & Community Services LouAnn Benson at [email protected] if interested. Please indicate your address so we can match you with the closest disabled senior resident in your neighborhood.
Community Service letters can be provided to students.
