Wayne County- Level 2 Travel Watch Extended until 12noon on 1/28/2026

Local Snow Emergency Extension- Level II (Travel Watch)

The Wayne County Board of Commissioners has extended the Level II Snow Emergency (Travel Watch) originally declared for Wayne County, including the City of Richmond and the Town of Centerville.

The Level II Snow Emergency will now remain in effect until 12:00 PM on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, unless further extended or modified by the Board of Commissioners. County officials will continue to monitor road conditions and weather impacts and will adjust the emergency level as conditions warrant.
 
A Level II Snow Emergency means only essential travel is permitted on county roads and city streets. This declaration does NOT apply to state or federal highways.
 
Essential travel includes:

  • Travel to and from work or school
  • Travel to obtain necessary medical care
  • Travel to obtain prescription medications
  • Travel to obtain essential food or fuel
  • Travel to obtain safe shelter
  • Travel by emergency vehicles and emergency personnel
Non-essential travel remains prohibited.
Violators may be fined up to $150 under Indiana Code 10-14-3-34. Knowingly, intentionally, or recklessly violating this order is a Class B misdemeanor.
 
Parking is prohibited on all county roads and within the county road right-of-way. Vehicles that are parked, stalled, stranded, or abandoned in violation of this order may be removed at the owner’s expense.

Instructions:

Drivers traveling for essential purposes must use extreme caution and adjust driving behavior for hazardous conditions. Travel times may be significantly longer than normal. Motorists should use main roads when possible and allow extra time to reach their destination. Those who become stranded risk injury due to exposure. Do not take unnecessary chances.
