News Release: Evening Burglary Interrupted by Resident
Palo Alto, CA – Police are investigating the burglary of an occupied home Friday night. The suspects are unknown and at large.
On Friday, February 13, 2026, at about 8:11 p.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a call reporting a burglary that had just occurred at a residence on the 800 block of Driftwood Drive. The resident, a woman in her seventies, was in her bedroom and heard a noise in the residence. The woman walked out of her room and saw a person standing in the dark that she did not recognize. The woman retreated to her room and called police. The Palo Alto Police arrived within minutes and canvased the area.
The investigation revealed that the unknown suspect had entered the home by smashing a rear sliding glass door. Nothing has been reported taken at this time. The suspect left the area prior to police arrival. Detectives are actively investigating this incident.
