Winter Storm Advisory – State of Emergency
Governor Mikie Sherrill has declared a State of Emergency for New Jersey effective 12:00 PM Sunday in anticipation of a significant winter storm expected to impact our area.
Current forecasts indicate 12–18 inches of snow, with heavy snowfall rates of 1–2 inches per hour possible late Sunday evening into overnight hours. Strong winds with gusts up to 40–45 mph may create blizzard conditions, reduced visibility, and rapidly deteriorating travel conditions.
Residents are strongly urged to avoid unnecessary travel once storm begins. During peak snowfall and high winds, roads may become impassable. Attempting to travel in these conditions could result in stranded motorists and significantly delay emergency response.
The Cherry Hill Police Department is coordinating with the Cherry Hill Department of Public Works and the Cherry Hill Office of Emergency Management to prepare for this storm. Our officers and DPW crews are prepared and will be working throughout the event to maintain public safety and clear roadways.
Vehicles must not be parked on roadways during active snow operations. Vehicles parked on the street that impede plowing operations may be subject to removal at the owner’s expense. Keeping roadways clear is critical to effective snow removal and emergency access.
Now is the time to prepare:
• Charge electronic devices
• Stock essential supplies and medications
• Check on elderly neighbors and those who may need assistance
• Have flashlights available in the event of power outages
• Keep emergency contact numbers accessible
For emergencies, call 911.
We thank our residents for their cooperation and our public safety personnel, DPW crews, and the Cherry Hill Office of Emergency Management for their dedication and preparedness.
