Confidence in severe weather continues to increase for this afternoon and evening. This event has the potential to produce widespread wind damage over portions of the forecast area, especially from around Philadelphia extending west and southwestward. Also, some of these storms could be significant, as defined by wind gusts of at least 75 mph or EF2 tornadoes. Heavy rainfall could also lead to localized flash flooding.

Multiple rounds of showers and embedded thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon and evening, along with strong southerly winds. Some of these storms could be severe, but the threat for more widespread significant severe weather will be mainly in the evening period as a line of storms moves through from west to east along a strong cold front.

• Severe thunderstorms likely this afternoon and evening. The primary hazard is expected to be damaging winds, though there is also potential for a few tornadoes.

• Excessive rainfall from thunderstorms may result in localized flash flooding. 

• Gusty winds are expected this afternoon into tonight, even outside of thunderstorms. Wind gusts could reach 40-50 mph at times, and a Wind Advisory is in effect for much of the area. These winds will initially be out of the south through this evening, and then shift to westerly overnight in the wake of the cold front.

Treat all downed power lines as if they are still live. Do not approach or touch any downed line. It is encouraged to charge all cell phones and have extra batteries in the event you lose power.​
