News Release: Garage Burglary Interrupted by Resident
Police are investigating the burglary of an occupied home Saturday evening. The suspect is unknown and at large.
On Saturday, March 14, 2026, at about 5:29 p.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a call reporting a burglary that had just occurred at a residence on the 4100 block of Sutherland Drive. The resident, a man in his forties, went to his garage and saw a person that he did not recognize. The suspect was placing items in a bag. When the suspect saw the resident, he fled out the garage door and jumped over a fence. The Palo Alto Police arrived within minutes and canvased the area, but the suspect had fled prior to their arrival.
The investigation revealed that the unknown suspect had entered the garage through an unlocked door. The victim described the suspect as being a Hispanic male, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall and wearing a mask. Nothing has been reported taken at this time. Detectives are actively investigating this incident.
