Jumping Branch Fire Update at 5:30pm on March 31, 2026
Due to successful strategic firing operations, containment on the Jumping Branch fire has increased to 30%. The size of the fire is currently mapped at 275 acres. Firefighters will continue working towards containment through the night. Smoke is expected to settle in low lying areas and may impact visibility. Drivers should avoid NC-80 in the Buck Creek area.
The next update will be issued on April 1, 2026.
