Elm Street Bridge Closure Beginning April 20, 2026
The Elm Street Bridge will be fully closed to all traffic and pedestrians beginning April 20, 2026, to allow for essential repairs and rehabilitation. The closure is expected to last approximately eight (8) weeks, weather permitting.
This project is critical to ensuring the long-term safety and reliability of the bridge. Planned improvements include:
• Replacement of drainage infrastructure (pipes, catch basins, and related structures)
• Excavation and installation of base materials
• Partial removal and reconstruction of the bridge structure and deck
• Installation of new reinforced concrete components
• Pavement reconstruction with new asphalt binder and surface layers
• Bridge rail rehabilitation, joint sealing, and protective coatings
• Sidewalk, curbing, and roadway approach improvements
• Upgrades to drainage, utility elements, and erosion control measures
Clearly marked detour routes and traffic control measures will be in place. Residents and commuters are encouraged to plan ahead and allow for additional travel time.
