City of Marion Issues Stage 1 Water Shortage Advisory
City of Marion Issues Stage 1 Water Shortage Advisory
Marion, NC – Due to McDowell County being classified within the Extreme Drought Category, the City of Marion has issued a Stage 1 Water Shortage Advisory, effective immediately.
The City of Marion is requesting that all water customers voluntarily reduce non-essential water use by at least five percent (5%). While this reduction is modest, the collective impact across the community can significantly support conservation efforts during this period of below-normal water levels.
Residents and businesses are strongly encouraged to limit water usage classified as Class III: Non-Essential Uses of Potable Water, including:
•Ornamental uses such as fountains, reflecting pools, and artificial waterfalls
•Outdoor, noncommercial watering of gardens, lawns, parks, golf courses (excluding greens), playing fields, and other recreational areas
•Filling and operation of residential swimming pools serving fewer than twenty-five (25) dwellings
•Noncommercial washing of motor vehicles
•Serving water in restaurants, clubs, or dining establishments except upon specific request
The City of Marion Water Department will continue to closely monitor conditions in coordination with the Catawba-Wateree Drought Management Advisory Group.
Additional updates will be provided as conditions evolve. The City appreciates the community’s cooperation and commitment to conserving water resources during this time.
