Update: As of 10:45 a.m., today, May 3, crews are on scene to fix a damaged traffic light at the intersection of 278 and Whooping Crane Way. The light was damaged due to a fallen tree earlier today.
Please be advised the westbound lanes of 278 are closed to traffic and being rerouted onto Whooping Crane Way. This is at the turn lane into Hilton Head Plantation.
Crews are expecting to have the traffic light fixed by early afternoon.
Please seek alternate routes if possible and follow all traffic controls set in place by deputies. Do not drive around patrol vehicles and barricades.
