ATTENTION MIDDLE & ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS:
The South River Police Department is excited to announce our 17th Annual Junior Police Academy! Ever wondered what it’s like to be a police officer? Here’s your chance to find out!
Cadets will get hands-on experience learning about police work - everything from crime scene investigations and evidence collection to motor vehicle stops and radio communications. You’ll even get to tour real facilities and meet the officers who serve your community. Previous academies have also participated in team building activities and visited the New Jersey State Police Museum, a real working criminal laboratory, and an actual Police Academy.
📅 Dates: August 24–28, 2026
📍 Location: South River Fire Department (Jackson Street)
The 5-day academy is open to all South River residents entering 6th, 7th, or 8th grade in the fall of 2026. Class size is limited to 20 cadets. Returning cadets will not automatically receive preference over new applicants.
