2 DUI Arrests & 12 Cited at Novato Checkpoint

On Friday 5/1, Novato Police arrested two drivers on suspicion of DUI during the checkpoint held at South Novato Blvd at Redwood Blvd.

  • 656 drivers contacted
  • 43 drivers directed to secondary screening area
  • 12 Citations:
    • 1 driver cited for driving on a suspended license, having a BAC greater than .01, and a probation violation.
    • 2 drivers cited for driving on a suspended license for prior DUI, one of which also possessed a weapon.
    • 9 drivers cited for unlicensed driving
“We are committed to taking impaired drivers off the road,” Sgt. Hall said. “Driving under the influence is not only dangerous but also has major consequences.”
 
Drivers charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.
 
Novato Police will be holding a series of DUI enforcement patrols throughout the year to keep our roadways safe.
