Man arrested for shooting a victim during a domestic

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jason Aiken, 37, for shooting a 28-year-old female victim during a domestic altercation at Magnolia Park Apartments. Aiken was served with arrest warrants for domestic violence high and aggravated nature, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a person convicted of violent offense.

The incident took place shortly before 6 a.m. on May 15, 2026, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a call regarding a gunshot victim at Magnolia Park Apartments, in Burton. While deputies responded to the scene, we received further information that involved parties, left the area in a vehicle to possibly seek medical attention.

We were provided with a description of the vehicle and later advised that the suspect parked the vehicle at a business near 3500 Trask Parkway and then fled the scene on foot prior to deputies arrival. Deputies made contact with the female victim in the car who was suffering from a gunshot wound. Deputies called for medical assistance and tended to the victim until Beaufort County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived to transport her.

A perimeter was quickly set up by deputies and after a brief search in the surrounding area, Aiken was located hiding on a nearby property and taken into custody without incident. He was unarmed at the time of his arrest. During the search for the suspect, there was no threat to the public.

During the search of the area with K9 units, a firearm believed to have been used by Aiken was located. The weapon was collected for evidence and testing to confirm it is the same weapon used by Aiken.

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Beaufort Police Department and Port Royal Police Department. We appreciate their continued partnership and support.
