The Township of North Brunswick will be opening a Cooling Center (NORTH BRUNSWICK RESIDENTS ONLY) at the North Brunswick Community Resiliency Center, 710 Hermann Road, tomorrow, Thursday, June 11 and Friday, June 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A Heat Advisory will be in effect from 11 a.m. tomorrow until 8 p.m. on Friday. Heat index values up to 102 degrees are expected.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Also, young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Always LOOK before you LOCK!
Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
In addition to the hot temperatures and high humidity, strong to potentially severe thunderstorms are possible during the afternoon and evening on Thursday and Friday, which could have strong, damaging winds.
