HOLLISTER, CALIFORNIA - June 12, 2026 – On June 10, 2026, officers with the Hollister Police Department responded to the area of 491 Tres Pinos Road (the former Kmart parking lot) following reports of a road rage incident involving a Chevrolet Tahoe and a Honda Civic.
Witnesses reported observing the Chevrolet Tahoe being driven recklessly throughout the area. During the incident, the Tahoe reportedly collided with a tree and another vehicle before officers arrived on scene.
Investigators determined that the driver of the Tahoe followed the victims into the parking lot, where the driver allegedly drove aggressively and recklessly around the Civic. After circling the Civic multiple times, the driver intentionally accelerated her Chevrolet Tahoe into the driver's side doors of the Civic.
At the time of the collision, the driver of the Honda Civic was seated inside the vehicle and had no opportunity to avoid the impact. The force of the collision caused significant danger to the victim, who absorbed the full impact of the crash. Given the size and weight disparity between the Chevrolet Tahoe and the Honda Civic, the intentional use of the Tahoe as a weapon created a substantial risk of serious bodily injury or death.
Through their investigation, officers identified 49-year-old Roxanne Quezada as the driver of the Chevrolet Tahoe. Officers learned that Quezada and the occupants of the Honda Civic were acquainted through a work-related matter and had been involved in an ongoing dispute earlier that day. Following the collision, Quezada fled the scene before officers arrived.
Officers quickly developed information regarding the suspect vehicle and responded to Quezada's residence. Upon arrival, officers observed Quezada standing near the Chevrolet Tahoe, which was parked in the driveway. When she noticed the officers, Quezada immediately retreated into the residence and refused to exit.
The Chevrolet Tahoe was subsequently seized and towed as evidence. Prior to officers leaving the residence, Quezada exited the home, at which time she was detained. She was positively identified by the victims and was taken into custody without further incident. Quezada was booked into the San Benito County Jail on charges of attempted homicide.
Fortunately, despite the violent nature of the attack and the significant potential for catastrophic injury, the victims sustained only minor injuries. Investigators believe the outcome could have been far more serious, and they are grateful that no one was critically injured or killed as a result of this incident.
The Hollister Police Department takes acts of violence involving motor vehicles extremely seriously. Intentionally using a vehicle to strike another occupied vehicle places victims, bystanders, and the community at significant risk and will be investigated and we will seek the prosecution to the fullest extent of the law.
