HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT SATURDAY FROM NOON UNTIL 8:00 PM
The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for McDowell County. Heat index values are expected to reach up to 108°F.
To stay safe:
• Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
• Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing.
• Limit strenuous outdoor activities to the early morning or evening.
• Take frequent breaks in air-conditioned or shaded areas.
• Check on older adults, neighbors, and anyone without reliable air conditioning.
Never leave children or pets in an unattended vehicle. Temperatures inside a vehicle can become deadly within minutes.
Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Call 911 immediately for any heat-related emergency.
