A Message from Mayor Peter Guindi
A MESSAGE FROM MAYOR PETER GUINDI
I have been in contact with both PSE&G and Comcast regarding the ongoing Comcast outage affecting our community and surrounding areas.
I spoke with the regional representative from PSE&G, who advised that the damage is more extensive than what was initially relayed yesterday on the Borough's social media accounts. He indicated that not one, but multiple utility poles, power infrastructure, and other utilities were damaged in Avenel as a result of the recent storms.
PSE&G crews are continuing to work to repair the damage and restore power to the affected areas. Once power is restored and the area is deemed safe, non-electric utilities, including cable, telephone, and internet providers, will be able to access the site and begin making their necessary repairs.
I have also been in contact with the Comcast regional representative. Comcast has advised that their crews are still waiting for PSE&G to complete its repairs before they can safely access the damaged infrastructure and restore service.
At this time, there is no estimate for when PSE&G will complete its repairs or when Comcast service will be restored. I understand how frustrating and disruptive this outage has been for residents, families, and businesses.
I have requested that Comcast provide affected residents with a credit on their bills due to the service disruption. Comcast has stated that they will provide a link for residents to request credits. I will share that link and continue to pass along additional updates as I receive them.
