A Message from Mayor Peter Guindi

A MESSAGE FROM MAYOR PETER GUINDI

The Borough of South River was made aware this morning that the South River Fire Department conducted a training exercise involving the use of fire hydrants on Thursday evening. The use of the hydrants during that training caused the recent water discoloration experienced by some residents.

The Fire Department will be conducting additional training involving fire hydrants again today, and as a result, there is the possibility of discolored water occurring again.

Running your cold water for several minutes as well as flushing your toilets once or twice may clear up any discoloration in some cases. If experiencing discolored water, avoid doing laundry until the color returns to normal.

We apologize for the late notice and understand the concerns caused by the recent water discoloration. We appreciate your patience and understanding as the South River Fire Department completes this important training to ensure the safety and preparedness of our community.

Peter S. Guindi
Mayor, Borough of South River

Instructions:

Running your cold water for several minutes as well as flushing your toilets once or twice may clear up any discoloration in some cases. If experiencing discolored water, avoid doing laundry until the color returns to normal.
