A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for the area until 9 p.m.
Strong to severe thunderstorms will bring the risk for gusty winds of 55 to 65 miles per hour and a few instances of downed trees and branches. Storms will be accompanied by heavy downpours which can lead to some poor drainage and roadway ponding, but the transient nature of storms today will limit the potential.
