Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle versus vehicle collision that occurred yesterday on El Camino Real.
On Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at about 4:29 p.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a call reporting a major injury collision that had just occurred on the 100 block of El Camino Real. Officers responded immediately and located a man in his twenties who had been ejected off his motorcycle. Palo Alto Fire Department personnel transported the man to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcycle was traveling southbound on the 100 block of El Camino Real. The sedan was travelling northbound on El Camino Real and was making a left turn into a business. The motorcycle collided with the sedan. The driver of the sedan, an adult female in her twenties, remained at the scene and cooperated with police. Personnel from the Police Department’s Specialized Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) team responded to the scene to continue the investigation. The cause of the collision remains under investigation. The roadway was closed for about 3 hours so officers could safely investigate the collision.
Police are not releasing the victim’s identity; that information can be obtained from the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner-Coroner.
