Youth Mental Health First Aid Training Coming to Franklin Township on September 25
The Franklin Township Stigma-Free Council is partnering with Empower Somerset to host a Youth Mental Health First Aid Training on September 25, 2026, offering community members an important opportunity to learn how to identify and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges in young people. The free, 6-hour course provides practical skills to support children and adolescents ages 6–18 and guide them toward appropriate care when they may be experiencing a crisis or developing a mental health concern.
The session will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Franklin Township Community Senior Center, located at 505 DeMott Lane in Somerset, NJ. Space is very limited. The training covers common signs and symptoms of mental illness and substance use in youth, how to approach a child or teen in crisis, and how to connect them with the right resources. New content also addresses trauma, self‑care, and the impact of social media and bullying. Teachers, school staff, coaches, camp counselors, youth group leaders, parents, and anyone who works with youth are encouraged to attend. Refreshments will be provided.
