Scattered showers and thunderstorms will move into the area over the next few hours, peaking mid-afternoon before lessening through sunset. Some of these showers and thunderstorms are expected to produce very heavy rainfall. Rainfall totals of 1-2 inches of rain can be expected with localized amounts of 3-5 inches possible in the strongest storms. Rainfall rates within these thunderstorms may reach up to 1-3 inches per hour at times.
While not everyone will see high end totals, there is a possibility this set-up leads to localized higher flooding impacts in the broader area where 3"+ occurs. Along with flooding concerns, embedded downpours in storms can produce localized gusty winds as well.
