At approximately 10:30 a.m. this morning, the Beverly Hills Fire Department responded to a fire at a two-story apartment complex in the 200 block of S. Rexford Dr. Most of the building was engulfed at the time. Neighboring buildings adjacent to the blaze were evacuated. As firefighters attacked the fire, the roof began collapsing, so firefighters retreated and are using area ladder trucks to battle the blaze. There are no injuries reported. Out of an abundance of caution, students at nearby Beverly Vista Middle School are under a shelter in place order. Los Angeles County Fire is also assisting on scene. Rexford Drive between Charleville and Gregory Way is currently closed.
