PUBLIC NOTICE – FULL-SCALE EMERGENCY EXERCISE
On Thursday, September 24, beginning at approximately 9:00 a.m., the Clinton County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) will conduct a full-scale emergency response exercise at the Norfolk Southern rail yard, located at 403 Prairie Ave. in Frankfort.
The exercise will involve multiple local agencies, including Clinton County Central Dispatch, Clinton County EMA, Clinton County EMS, Frankfort Fire Department, Frankfort Police Department, Clinton County Health Department and IU Health Frankfort Hospital.
Residents may notice an increased presence of emergency vehicles and public safety personnel in and around the area during the exercise. This is a planned training exercise and there is no emergency or threat to the public.
The exercise is designed to test and evaluate emergency response procedures, interagency communication, coordination, and overall preparedness during a simulated emergency involving the railroad.
The exercise is expected to conclude at approximately 11:00 a.m.
Again, this is a scheduled training exercise only. No action is required by the public.
