NYSDOT has just issued an updated travel advisory. We've posted it below. The best news for motorists is that the project is one day closer to completion. The next three days however will not be easy to navigate through the paving areas. There will be detours posted to get you around them but expect lengthy delays. Our advice to all motorists is to avoid these areas entirely if possible. Thruway travelers coming from the west to exit 27 may wish to instead get off at exit 28. Those coming from the east should consider exiting at exit 26.

Once inside the city, if you need to head north, consider using Steadwell, Wall St. or Vrooman to make your connections to Market Hill, Reid Hill, Park Hill and Rockton neighborhoods.

If DOT is able to complete the work per this latest advisory, by Sunday, traffic flow should improve dramatically.

TRAVEL ADVISORY

Paving Operations Continue Along Portions of State Routes 5, 30 and 67 in the City of Amsterdam, Montgomery County

The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists that paving operations will continue along portions of State Routes 5, 30, and 67 in the city of Amsterdam, Montgomery County.

Motorists can expect daily lane shifts to occur from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the following locations:
• Thursday, September 24: State Route 30 northbound from East Main Street to Prospect Street
• Saturday, September 26: State Route 30 southbound between East Main Street and Belldons Road

The following roads will be closed from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on these dates:
• Friday, September 25: State Route 67 eastbound between State Route 30 northbound and Prospect Street.
• Friday, September 25: State Route 67 westbound between Prospect Street and State Route 30 southbound.
• Saturday, September 26: State Route 5 offramp to State Route 30 southbound.

Motorists should follow the posted detour.

Motorists are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.

Construction activities are weather dependent and subject to change based on conditions.
