The Palo Alto Police are investigating several reports of a mountain lion sighting throughout Palo Alto. On 9/24/26, there were two reports of a mountain lion being seen in the suburban part of Palo Alto near Middlefield Road and Colorado Avenue. The Palo Alto Police and Animal Control Officers responded to the area and were unable to locate the lion. On 9/25/26, there was an additional report of a mountain lion being seen near the 1600 block of Sand Hill Road. The Palo Alto Police responded and were unable to locate the animal. The mountain lion has not displayed agressive behavior. Residents are encouraged to stay aware of their surroundings and call police if the mountain lion is seen.
