A 19-year-old Illinois man is in custody following a shooting Sunday evening at a Bluffton hotel.
At approximately 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 27, 2026, Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the Holiday Inn, 35 Bluffton Road, following a report of a shooting.
While deputies were responding, the Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received information that a man had been shot and that the suspect had left the area on foot.
Upon arrival, deputies located the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
A short time later, Tadeo Nicolas Torres Barrera, 19, of Rochelle, Illinois, was located detained and subsequently arrested.
Torres Barrera was arrested for Attempted Murder and is being held at the Beaufort County Detention Center.
