Earlier this month, Sgt. Waylon Patterson assisted a stranded motorist on Highway 8 near The Berry Patch. The motorist was traveling with her children when her vehicle broke down. According to the report, Sgt. Patterson also assisted with getting water for the children while they were stranded.
Following the incident, the motorist took the time to send a Facebook message to the Stokes County Sheriff’s Office recognizing Sgt. Patterson for the assistance he provided. She said:
“The sheriff on duty yesterday that helped me and my kids when my car broke down near The Berry Patch was absolutely fantastic. We as a community are very lucky to have him working here.”
Sheriff Lemons stated, “Sgt. Patterson’s actions are an excellent example of the level of service we strive to provide to the citizens of Stokes County. His willingness to stop and assist this family, including making sure the children had water while they were stranded, demonstrates compassion, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to serving our community.
Positive interactions such as this may seem routine, but they leave a lasting impression on the citizens we serve and reflect positively on the entire Stokes County Sheriff’s Office.
Great job Sgt. Patterson, and thank you for your continued dedication to the citizens and for representing the Stokes County Sheriff’s Office in such a positive manner.
