City of Marion Announces Cancellation of Mountain Glory Festival Due to Expected Weather

MARION, N.C. — The City of Marion regrets to announce the cancellation of this year’s Mountain Glory Festival due to the expected weather associated with Hurricane Isaias forecasted for this weekend.

After careful consideration, the City has made the difficult decision to cancel the annual festival out of an abundance of caution. The safety of residents, visitors, vendors, volunteers, and event participants remains the City’s top priority.

The Mountain Glory Festival is a cherished Marion tradition that brings together our community and welcomes visitors from across the region. This decision was not made lightly, and the City recognizes the disappointment this announcement may cause for those who look forward to the festival each year.

The City of Marion extends its sincere appreciation to the sponsors, vendors, volunteers, and community partners who dedicate their time and resources to making the Mountain Glory Festival possible. We are grateful for their continued support and understanding.

Residents are encouraged to monitor weather conditions and stay informed by following all notifications and guidance issued by McDowell County Emergency Management over the coming days.
