Seal Beach - Coastal Flood Warning: Beach Parking Lots Closed Sunday, October 11
The City of Seal Beach is preparing for coastal flooding, increased surf, rain, and gusty winds associated with Tropical Storm Rachel this weekend.
The 1st, 8th, and 10th Street beach parking lots will be closed Sunday morning, October 11. Closures will begin Saturday night, October 10. The City will reassess conditions Sunday and reopen the lots when conditions allow.
A National Weather Service Coastal Flood Warning is in effect through 3 p.m. Sunday, with the greatest coastal flooding concern Sunday morning, when elevated tides combine with increased surf and onshore winds. Dangerous rip currents and beach erosion are also possible.
Rain may begin late Saturday night and continue Sunday. Additional showers and coastal impacts may linger into early next week.
The City is staging pumps, monitoring weather and shoreline conditions, and sharing updates through social media and Nixle.
Residents and visitors should:
-
Stay out of the water during hazardous surf conditions and away from jetties and wave-exposed areas.
-
Follow posted closures, barricades, and directions from Marine Safety personnel.
-
Never drive through flooded roads.
-
Secure outdoor furniture and other loose items.
