The tsunami sirens in east Jefferson County are located at Point Hudson, Point Wilson, and in the Boat Yard. They are designed to alert only those in the immediate vicinity, in the tsunami inundation zone. If you are relatively close by or indoors, you may not hear the full message, as the sirens are not intended to alert across great distances to individuals outside of the tsunami inundation zone.
If you feel an earthquake and are near the water, evacuate inland and to higher ground immediately. The earthquake is your warning to evacuate.
Alerts will also come via Nixle and/or the Wireless Emergency Alert system: https://www.fcc.gov/consumers/guides/wireless-emergency-alerts
After a real emergency, additional information can be found by tuning into KPTZ 91.9 or KROH 91.1.
